Women's Study: Me, Myself, and Lies: A Thought Closet Makeover
Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012

Campus: Lake Norman
Lowe's YMCA Conference Room

Words are powerful. Especially the words women speak to themselves. All too often, what they say to themselves when they lie in bed at night or look in the mirror in the morning is not even close to the words God wants them to speak to their souls. According to the author, Jennifer Rothschild, what we think about often has a ripple effect on nearly every area of our lives. "This Bible study, based on Jennifer's popular book: Self Talk, Soul Talk, teaches how to replace the lies you may have been telling yourself with the truth from God's word."  Click here to see video samples of the study.

* childcare available through the YMCA

Slovakia Mission Trip Interest Meeting
Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012

**Please note: this meeting has been canceled. To express interest in the Slovakia mission trip, please contact Brittany Gardner at bgardner@mecklenburg.org for details and information.

Unlike many of Meck's missions trips that mainly serve the least, this unique opportunity decisively targets the lost: people who have never heard the message of Christ.

Young people in Eastern Europe live in a changing world their parents never knew – a place once dominated by government-sponsored atheism is now filled with opportunity and freedom. But, this same region is also increasingly becoming a “post-Christian society." In a group of 100 Slovak young people, only one knows Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Teams that go to Eastern Europe to help with summer camps have one primary purpose: to share their lives and the love of Jesus Christ through relationships with students who have little to no contact with Christians, the Bible, or the truth of Jesus Christ. These summer camps are amazing, challenging, convicting, fun, and completely life-changing for everyone involved. During the camps, we help high school students practice English-speaking skills in the mornings, engage in a wide variety of sports and activities in the afternoons and teach about Christ in the evenings.

This summer, we are fortunate to take another team to Slovakia July 25-August 5 to spread the Gospel to those separated from God. Don't let money be an obstacle. If God is calling you to this mission, God will certainly provide the resources for you to carry it out, and our team experienced His incredible faithfulness last year with our inaugural trip. Prayerfully consider joining our team to make a difference.

Jamaica 2012 Trip Interest Meeting
Sunday, Mar 4, 2012

Campus: North Charlotte

If you've talked to someone who has been on Meck's Mission trip to Harmons Jamaica with Won by One, you know that people don't seem to come back quite the same. This trip touches the heart of people, who year after year decide to make the trip again.

Ministry in Harmons is two-fold.  First, the teams show the love of Christ by meeting the physical needs of the community.  This is done by building 12' x 15' concrete houses, working in a local store, repairing homes and delivering medicine and clothes that the team brings down.  Second, the team practices friendship evangelism thoughout the week.

Teams stay in "Harmony House" in the center of the community they are serving. It is a very safe environment, and the local people in Harmons are always so welcoming.

Wanna find out more? Join us for a trip interest meeting on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. at the North Charlotte Campus. This will allow everyone to get their questions answered and to register for the trip.

We hope that you'll prayerfully consider joining the team!

You may have heard this verse but have you ever wondered to yourself if there actually is anything that is not possible for God?

Well, there is and over the past few weeks we've been uncovering it.

Join us as we continue our series of Things That Are Impossible for God to learn what else is impossible for the One who makes all things possible.

Guatemala CIty, Guatemala

OPPORTUNITY
In the breathtakingly beautiful countryside of Guatemala, amid volcanoes, forest, desert, mountains, valleys and lakes, small teams of Americans are transported in USA-supplied Chevy Suburbans to remote villages to offer both medical and spiritual restoration to the needy. Personally interacting with and temporarily living among people of an ancient culture in primitive, often impoverished villages, offers a rich environment to stretch their view of mankind, God, and themselves. Many people return home with a new awareness and an appreciation of their wealth, comfort, and a host of other blessings, not the least of which is a solid conviction that "God can use me!"

Missions 2.0 - Jamaica Trip 2012
Sunday, Aug 5, 2012 - Sunday, Aug 12, 2012

Harmons, Jamaica

Harmons, Jamaica is a small, remote village situated in a mountain valley in the south central interior of the island.  With approximately 2,500 people, Harmons can be described as a mostly forgotten village.  Except for the teams that travel with “Won By One To Jamaica,” Harmons is rarely visited by outsiders.  Harmons has around 75% unemployment, and very poor living conditions.  Many families lack the money to send their children to school past the 7th grade.  Many homes are in dismal condition and house multiple families.

COST
The August trip is $1450 per team member

The price does not include:

  • Passport fees
  • Immunizations - Tetanus is required (must be current), Hepatitis A is recommended
  • Snorkeling and shopping in Ocho Rios
